TEACHER APPLICATIONS FOR 2026 ARE NOW CLOSED
DEADLINE FOR FILLING IN THIS FORM WAS 10PM UK TIME ON MONDAY 15TH DECEMBER
A full ticket includes all food, snacks etc for the event but does not include accommodation.
Please note there are limited spaces available. Last year I had over 100 applications, most of which would be amazing workshops for SWhoop, so some of you will be unsuccessful. Please dont take it personally, I try and create a balanced schedule for SWhoop from the applications.
Preference will be given to teachers who have supported SWhoop in the past as attendees, those with teaching experience and those with novel workshop content.
If you want to offer multiple options within a discipline you can do it in one entry eg 3 options for hoop workshops or 2 options for crafts workshops. If offer multiple types of workshop (eg one craft and one hoop, or one pole, one hoop and one discussion) please fill in the form multiple times for each workshop type.
Thanks for your application 🙂
Teachers will be chosen and contacted before Dec 22nd.
Please buy a ticket if you want to come to SWhoop. Submitting a proposal DOES NOT guarantee a space.
If you have already bought a SWhoop ticket and you get a teaching slot you will be refunded.
TEACHER APPLICATIONS FOR 2026 ARE NOW CLOSED
A message from Emma about what she is looking for in workshops for SWhoop.
Hi all,
For hoop workshops please make sure that you are specific about your workshop content including why it’s different to something that’d be in a normal hoop class. What makes it specific to you?? I tend to look at workshops blurbs with something like the following questions:
1. Is the content novel? (ideally yes)
2. Is the teacher known (by me or the community in general) for being a specialist in these tricks? (yes = great, no = see Q3)
3. If no, then does the workshop description describe why they are teaching them/specific content?
4. Are they an experienced teacher? Do I know that they will run a good workshop?
5. Are they a SWhooper? Have they been to SWhoop in the past? I am more likely to say yes to those that have supported SWhoop in the past by buying tickets/volunteering (SWhoop or Cyber SWhoop)
6. Could I teach it myself? (eg. I am unlikely to say yes to a general common tricks workshop – there needs to be something unique, or a unique take, it’s a workshop at a conference not a standard class)
7. Do I think it will cater to the right level? We do have some beginners at SWhoop but the very large majority are intermediate-expert and I’m looking for classes that work for that group.
8. Does the workshop description actual say anything specific? The more vague, the less likely I am to choose it as I won’t have any clue on the content. If you are saying you will improve peoples hooping then explain how.
9. Does it fit into the atmosphere of SWhoop in general? Check out previous videos if you’ve not been before.
10. When did the application come it? I am a last min person myself which makes me annoying to work with as I can be bad at communication. How early you apply will factor into my decision as it is indicative of how easy communication will be so I suggest not leaving it until last min. Just do it now 🙂
11. Conduct in the community – I have zero tolerance for bullies. Those that have been involved in online or in-person bullying are not welcome at SWhoop.
For non-hoop workshops, I’m asking similar questions but it really just depends on whether I think the SWhoopers will love it and whether it sounds fun!!!
Few things to note for non hoop workshops:
- I am vegan and the event I dont allow any animal product based workshops eg. working with leather even if it’s recycled
- I wont have anything that I consider cultural appropriation eg. dreamcathers
- We are really trying to reduce plastic/waste so upcycling is great – we have A LOT of craft supplies we have built up over the years so anything that uses what we have is great.
- The discussions/talks happen in the graffiti room which is an open area where others will be coming in and grabbing teas and coffees so consider that if you are offering a discussion that would better happen in private. You can ask me about this as I could potentially come up with a different space.
- If you are offering a non-hoop prop workshop please consider how to bring/source the props eg. fans, staffs etc
Hope that helps!!
Emma x
